Decision Velocity: The Founder Skill Nobody Teaches
By Craig McIntosh · 13 September 2026 · 4 min read
The fastest-growing founders are rarely the smartest in the room. They simply decide faster — and correct faster.
Every week a founder faces dozens of decisions that feel important and are, in fact, reversible. Treating them as permanent is the quiet tax on growth.
Two kinds of doors
Separate your decisions into one-way doors (hard to reverse — hires, pricing strategy, partnerships) and two-way doors (easy to reverse — copy, tools, experiments). Give the first kind real thought. Give the second kind a deadline of today.
A simple ritual
- List every open decision on Monday morning.
- Mark each one as one-way or two-way.
- Close every two-way door before lunch.
Momentum is a decision you make repeatedly.
